My mind and spirit had concocted a plan for my 10K race, a plan that had been researched strongly and weight against what I felt were my abilities and limitation. Now those plans seem to no longer be valid, My training plan for my10K has left me with major pain in my right leg. My knee hurts, my foot hurts and the tendons in the back of my leg ache. It is more than an ache. It is sheer pain forcing me to wolf down aspirin even as I lie down trying to relax. My body is boss when it comes to physical capabilities. My mind and spirit were obviously out of sync with my body. My spirit wants to ignore my body, it wants to soldier on. My mind now realizes that is a mistake. My mind says no. My mind says I need to rest. My mind says I need to rest and slow down.
Therefore I have taken Thursday and Friday off from running this week. Next week I will go back to my plan on all days except Friday. I will rest on Friday again. Although I am a little disappointed in this setback, I really feel I will overcome and be back to my plan in no time. Maybe running faster and longer then ever.
